W.R. Mackintosh who compiled the short stories came from Ayrshire. He was an accomplished journalist who came to Orkney to work on the Orcadian and subsequently married Elizabeth Anderson, a daughter of the then owner. He eventually took over the business in 1895 and subsequently published a number of Orkney books. |
