Description: As the title of this book suggests, this gives the history of the American company, the Republican Aviation Corporation where some of the most successful aircraft came from. From the outstanding P-47 Thunderbolt of World War Two, through to the Thunderjet and Thunderceptor to the F-105 Thunderchief which saw action in Vietnam and includes the A-10 Thunderbolt which has been used more recently.
Author: At the time of this publication, the author was Air & Space curator at the Cradle of Aviation museum, New York. He holds a Masters Degree in Museum Studies from the University of Toronto. This is his sixth book on aviation history, some of his others being Dirigible, 1985, Chariots For Apollo, 1987, and Roosevelt Field, World’s Premier Airport, 1989.
