divide. It was said that he was the great Prime Minister
that we never had but his name was associated with the
appeasers of Munich and it was not to be. He later won
the respect of the country as the architect of the 1944
Education Act retiring from politics in 1965. Throughout
nearly four decades of a political career he was discreet,
independent and forthright.
