| Title:
The Fight For The Malvinas – The Argentine Forces In The Falklands War by Martin Middlebrook |
|
Description:
This book covers the Falklands war of 1982 fought between the British and Argentinean forces over these islands in the South Atlantic. This book is viewed from the Argentine perspective in which the author has interviewed sixty-two Argentineans who took part in the conflict. Among the personnel he interview were the captain of the ship which took the scrap-metal workers to South Georgia; the Admiral in charge of the planning of the invasion; the marine commander and other members of the invasion force; two Brigadier-Generals; five unit commanders and many men of the large occupying force; the commander of the naval task force put to sea to engage the approaching British task force; the captain and other survivors from the General Belgrano; a submarine captain; the pilots who sank HMS Ardent and Sheffield and many others to make this a superb and valuable contribution to military history.

| Author:
Martin Middlebrook is a British military historian and Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He wrote his first book ‘The First Day on the Somme’ following a visit to the First World War battlefields of France and Belgium in 1967. This detailed study of the single worst day for the British Army remains a classic. Middlebrook gave the same single-day treatment to 21 March 1918, the opening of the German Spring Offensive, in ‘The Kaiser'sBattle’. His Second World War books concentrate on the air war. A number of them again deal with a single day of action while others cover longer air battles. He also wrote two books on the Falklands War, one from the British perspective and one from the Argentine perspective. |
