| Title:
Douglas
Bader A Biography of the Legendary WWII Fighter Pilot
by John Frayn Turner |
|
Description:
Douglas
Bader is one of the legendary names of WW II. His bravery
and courage are renowned and this biography is one of
the most complete accounts of his life. It is based on
extensive interviews with Bader during the last 13 years
of his life and tells the full story from his childhood
to his work in the later years with the disabled. After
a flying accident in which Bader lost both his legs he
was invalided out of the RAF. At the outbreak of the war
he was recalled to the RAF and was to return to flying
duties. He fought in the Battle of Britain and later nearly
100 offensive fighter patrols but was captured following
a mid-air collision and was imprisoned in the famous Colditz
Castle. The story of his war-time activities and capture
are covered in some detail and make fascinating reading.
The authors account of this remarkable man is a fitting
tribute of one of the countrys most heroic figures.
