| Title:
The
Nazis A Warning From History by Laurence Rees |
|
Description:
This
book takes a look at the popular myths surrounding the
rise and fall of the Third Reich. It takes a fresh look
at how the Nazis came to power, ruled and the role of
Hitler within the Party. It describes the horrors of the
Eastern Front including the occupation of Poland, the
growth of anti-Semitism which culminated in the Gas Chambers
of Treblinka and Auschwitz. It considers how a cultured
nation such as Germany could be responsible for such acts
and it challenges the accepted perception that Hitler
was the route of all evil within the regime. The book
includes over fifty eye-witness testimonies, many of whom
were committed Nazis and their experiences confirm that
there was a massive collaboration with the regime on all
fronts and that the terrible atrocities were not only
committed by the elite killing squads but were also committed
by the ordinary soldier and civilian. This book sheds
new light on the causes of the worlds worst conflict
and the thought provoking conclusion may not be what we
would like to believe.
