Alfred Leslie Rowse was born in Cornwall in 1903. He later studied English Literature at Christ College, Oxford. As a fellow of All Saints College, he devoted himself mainly to historical research and writing. He has published volumes of poetry, besides essays on literature and politics, and a notable autobiography, ‘A Cornish Childhood’. He died in 1997. |
