Captain Jacques Doneux, an Englishman of Belgian descent, was born in London in 1908. He served as an Air Raid Warden from 1939 to 1941 when he joined the Royal Army Service Corps as a Private. A year later he volunteered for duty wih S.O.E. His intimate pre-war knowledge of Belgium and his mastery of the language led to his selection for the mission that he describes so excitingly in this book. |
